What has Lauren been up to?  I’ve been working with Blue Rooster Telecom for about a month. It has certainly been a real pleasure interning with them. I will greatly miss my amazing co-workers. Other than working as marketing intern, I’m taking up surfboard shaping with Cal Poly’s ASI Craft Center. My shift at SLO OP has changed as well. I’m every Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 – 7pm. Find me and crush with me! I haven’t been able to really do much traveling because of these set times. BUT, I have a plan (ok, not a serious one) , and life isn’t about to slow down for me any time soon!

The move… was crazy exciting. Again, I love the roommates and housemates. I am super glad to be stuck with them for a year. Israel, however, just left for Haiti. We expect him to be back sometime late August. (And thank you for letting me crash at your place during the transition before moving. Oh, and I’ll miss you but just a little. FUPA) Our new house is pretty much settled in. We just need a kitchen table with chairs, but other than that things are looking cozy. Expect a housewarming wine and cheese party soon in August.

So, what is there to expect from this gal now? I’ll be in SLO for awhile. I do want to make some money to do some traveling / backpacking as well. Places: Grand Canyon, Hawaii / Tahiti, Spain, back to Utah and Ireland, and Greece. So far, my life has been pretty spontaneous. I like it.

Let the countdown begin… It hit me recently that I will no longer be a student at Cal Poly soon. I have three more classes left and then I’ll be an alumnus! (How exciting) My apologies for not updating this photojournal, though. Last quarter, I maintained three wordpresses so that would be pretty insane to take this one on too (not to mention that I had 19 units last quarter). I decided to get back on this site after seeing that people actually do visit this site and comment. (Thanks, guys!)

Update, Update, Update… Since the last time I’ve posted an entry on here, I’ve done quite a few things:

1. Worked with singer-songwriter Trevor Hall (created a short promotional video for his upcoming album). He came to Poly and stayed at my house. It was a lot of fun and now he’s back from India finishing up his album. It should be out in a few months.
2. Doing more long-boarding. I’m taking on some bigger hills and gettin’ the hang of carving! If anyone has a skateboard or any other board, let me know and I’d be down to skate with you. Avila is my favorite place to be.
3. More climbing, of course, and I top-roped outside for the first time. Oh yeah, and I did my first crack climb! I did Flakes to Fresno at Bishops Peak around sunset time. Yeah, it was dangerous to climb in the dark, but it was absolutely perfect: beautiful sunset, warm outside, first top-rope route that happens to be a crack climb, and being with someone I adore.
4. Which leads me to my next point… I am with someone who makes me happy. I am lucky. Things are great, almost too perfect. (Kinda scares me) I’ll leave it at that.
5. Yoga–exercising mind and body. I’m continuing to do this activity. I had the privilege to work with photographer, Sara Tollefson, and we did a quick yoga photo shoot.
6. Got a bike, finally. Vintage Peugot. A red beauty. I need to do some work on her though. I rode my bike to SLO OP and the chain went off the track five times.
7. Highlining and slacklining continues. I think I’m going to get some new webbing for my slackline kit.

Little Random Adventures… Went to Squaw Valley, going to Yosemite in March, hopefully also in April (for my 23rd birthday), Bishops, CA for bouldering and camping, Big Sur…

The big “plan” after college… I will be in SLO for a few more months after I graduate. I am not sure how long I will be in SLO, but I plan to take up an internship here over the summer and figure things out from there. I am interested in doing videos for All Out Events too. I will also continue to search for a PR agency that has outdoor clients (PrAna, Evolv, REI, Patagonia), but I need to decide if I really want to move out of state to start my new stage in life with new people and such. It’s such a big decision to make and I’m not sure if I’m ready to make that commitment yet. (I guess I’ll just focus on school and graduating first before I undertake any other project.)

Overall, everything has been great. I’ve met some amazing people and I am very grateful for all these opportunities.

I was lucky enough to accompany them while they recorded their new full-length album, The Good Fight, by Brotheryn Studios in Ventura. It has truly been a rewarding experience to see his band start from the Cal Poly dorms to now entertaining crowds at major venues. His music never fails to capture listeners of a wide demographic. It brings people together.

I absolutely love the new album. It is a bit different from his EP, From the Mountains to the Sea, but every fan will appreciate the new refreshing feeling heard throughout the album. Rivermouth has always been a favorite of mine.

Another album, Wild Child, will be released the same time. I feel like I can sit in a field of flowers or watch the ocean while listening to this album. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to every song, and I’m sure all of you will too.

Let’s all celebrate his double album release this SATURDAY, June 5th @ SLO’s Downtown Brew. Tickets are $7, $9 at the door. Doors open at 7:30pm. You won’t want to miss it! Free tye dye tanks for the first 25 in line. Dave Carlsen’s band, Central Currency, will be opening.

Much as happened:

*I turned 22!
*I was interviewed by the Mustang Daily for a photography position
*I have an upcoming internship interview with BAY (a PR agency)
*I stayed up for 25 hrs straight for Relay for Life (raised over $100)
*I’m collaborating with AJ’s Sports Shop to help with promotions and special events
*I’m continuing to search for a VW Bus for this summer’s bouldering road trip.
*I’m searching for  a place to live with two guys next year.

I’ve also recently discovered what I would like to do with my career in public relations. I contacted PrAna and hope to do a future internship with them, or better yet, do PR for them as a career.

Life is fantastic. Spring quarter is coming to an end and I can almost taste Summer break. I’ve learned and grown so much over the last months, and I can say that I have absolutely no regrets. Hope you enjoy this post.
